Jesse was adorable and scary in a Firestarter, Stephen King-esque sort of way. Sam was wonderful and introspective and self-flagellatey, but not in an over-the-top super emo way. I love that Castiel is still very Angel Of The Lord, even after his rebellion, and I love that Dean understands and accepts that enough to still look out for his action-figured self. I'm sure there will be wank, as everyone loves to flip out every time OMG CASTIEL IS MEEN, but for now, I'm quite content.

Oh, and this is the second episode running that I've been more interested in Sam than Dean. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME YOU GUYS? I've always liked both brothers, but Dean was just a bit higher up on my list until this year. <strike>Jensen is still more attractive.
Just finally watched Supernatural 5.05, and was I the only one royally pissed at the way they botched the Little Bastard/James Dean bit of history? I mean, the car is in pieces (eleven, I think?). It has been since Dean, I don't know, CRASHED IT HEAD-ON. You got that, writers, so why fuck up with the rest of it? It's not even like they wouldn't have had a story otherwise. They could've written the guy as finding the Porsche engine Dean's car used, since that was removed intact and placed in another car (which was then fatally crashed the first time it was driven), so you still get the cool mythology.

Is it too much to ask for some accuracy?
Can't stop downloading free audiobooks. I think I need help.

But they're so convenient! I just cleaned my bedroom and read 6 chapters of Sinclair Lewis' Babbitt, a book I've been trying to get around to finishing since last summer, at the same time! :D

I've been browsing LibriVox and the fiction section of Audiobooks Corner, and I've downloaded:

Babbitt - Sinclair Lewis
Main Street - Sinclair Lewis
Bleak House - Charles Dickens
A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - James Joyce
The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne
Absalom, Absalom - William Faulkner
As I Lay Dying - William Faulkner
The Pilgrim's Progress - John Bunyan
Candide - Voltaire
Les Miserables - Victor Hugo
The Brothers Karamazov - Feodor Dostoevsky
The Screwtape Letters - CS Lewis
Intensity - Dean Koontz
Redcoat - Bernard Cornwell
A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
Defending Your Faith - RC Sproul

The recording of Les Mis alone is like, 8 years long. Obviously, I totally need to still be browsing the archives right now. xP

This and The Legend of Neil (google it, old-school Zelda fans. It's hilarious) are possibly my favorite web series of all time (yes, even if the list includes Dr Horrible).
This video isn't an episode of The Guild--it's a music video the cast put together over the hiatus about internet relationships and cybersex. It's hilarious and more catchy than it should be, really. xD

My copy is green with the lettering and illustration of the whale in white, and seeing it never fails to make me feel calm and centered. It's also quite worn, as I bought it used for $.50 or so and have read it three times in the past five years.

I first read this novel my senior year of high school, frustrated with the fact that my English class was reading The Great Gatsby for my third time (I'm a huge fan of Fitzgerald, but I wasn't in the mood for commentary on the Jazz Age just then), when there were so many other classics out there I hadn't touched. So I read this book on the bus to and from school, waiting for appointments, etc--basically any free moment. It took me 4 months, and it was totally worth it. I wrote on Moby Dick for my AP English Lit essay, and I've done a set of 10-12 page research papers on it, both in relation to American history and Zen Buddhism (different classes, haha).

I love this book. Ishmael, the narrator, has the most hilariously dry sense of humor and this fresh, naive, totally dorky love for every new thing he comes across--he's like one of those new!fans you meet who seems to have the fandom wiki memorized already even though he's only halfway through the first season of the show--or maybe he's the one who's written the wiki? I don't know, but he's adorable and fanboyish and I really relate to him, whether on a that's totally me! or I know several people exactly like that! level, depending on where I am in the novel.

And, being a history/lit nerd, I love this book for its context in the anti-transcendentalist movement and as a counterpoint to the more pro-individualism, fuck you I'm in it for myself novels like Atlas Shrugged, which I also hold near and dear to my heart.

I could talk about this book for eons, but I'm supposed to be leaving for a weekend trip in 10 minutes(!), and I have yet to pack. Please, if you've read it, leave me your thoughts! I'll read them Sunday when I get home, and it'll make me ridiculously happy.

Sorry, guys. I guess I forgot that anyone would care that my PC was out of commission for two weeks, basically keeping me offline for most of that period. The texts and e-mails were lovely and made me feel super appreciated, and no, I'm not dead.

My computer's fixed now, thanks to the creepily-attempting-to-flirt repair guy (who my mother and I fondly nicknamed "big gulp"). I'm not sure I'll be heading back there "even if [my] computer doesn't need any more work or whatever, just to hang out," but they were definitely helpful. xD

BRB, catching up on fandomsecrets and logging into google chat (amory.vain, if you haven't added me).
